September 11, 2001: Conservative Senator Orrin Hatch (R) tells the Associated Press that the US government was monitoring bin Laden's communications electronically, and had overheard two bin Laden aides celebrating the successful terrorist attack: "They have an intercept of some information that included people associated with bin Laden who acknowledged a couple of targets were hit."
